Francis Lightfoot Lee's Menokin (circa 1769) 4037 Menokin Road, Warsaw, VA 22572, 804-333-1776, Situated on 500 acres, this National Historic Landmark was the home of Francis Lightfoot Lee, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and his wife Rebecca Tayloe. The home features a conservation and visitors center, as well as a walking tour of the Menokin ruin and grounds. St. Mary's Whitechapel Episcopal Church (circa 1669) 5940 White Chapel Road, Warsaw, VA 22503, Located in Lancaster, 804-462-5908, The Ball family, George Washington’s maternal kin, were parishioners of this historic church and the extant gallery in the church was constructed for their use. The church contains the oldest know altar tablets, Decalogue, Lord’s Prayer, and Apostles’ Creed, in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as a communion table and baptismal font from the Colonial era. An on site graveyard contains the graves of many historic families of the Northern Neck.

Stratford Hall Plantation (circa 1738) 485 Great House Road, Warsaw, VA 22558, Located in Stratford, 804-493-8038, The boyhood home of Richard Henry Lee and Francis Lightfoot Lee, the brothers who signed the Declaration of Independence, this plantation also became the birthplace of General Robert E. Lee in 1807. The Great Hall in the center of the house is one of the most architecturally significant rooms to survive from colonial America and the 1,670 acre plantation is managed as a working farm with costumed interpreters leading tours through the house. A log cabin dining room serves lunch daily and a visitor center and gift shop are also on the property. more...

Colonial Beach Museum 128 Hawthorn Street, Colonial Beach, VA 22443, 804-224-7181, Operated by the Colonial Beach Historical Society, this museum is situated in a circa 1890 Victorian cottage and it is dedicated to the preservation of Colonial Beach and the local Potomac River history. The museum traces the town’s history from the appearance of Captain John Smith in 1608 to the present and it contains historic photographs, artifacts, and one-of-a-kind memorabilia.

Mary Ball Washington Museum 8346 Mary Ball Road, Warsaw, VA 22503, Located in Lancaster Courthouse, 804-462-7280, Named in honor of George Washington's mother, who was born at Epping Forest near the village of Lancaster Courthouse, this museum is located in the circa 1800 Lancaster House and it contains a wide range of exhibits depicting life in Lancaster County over its 350 years. Visitors can also see the circa 1797 Old Clerk's Office and the Old Jail which displays the living quarters of the 1828 jailer and a circa 1830 criminal cell while at this museum.

Reedville Fishermen's Museum 504 Main Street, Reedville, VA 22539, 804-453-6529, Visitors can learn about the Northern Neck’s fishing and watermen’s heritage at this museum that is dedicated to preserving the heritage of the maritime history of the lower Chesapeake Bay area.
