Goodwood Plantation (circa 1840) 1600 Miccosukee Road, Tallahassee, FL 32301, 850-877-4202, This magnificent estate hosted social and political functions for decades and was originally begun as a cotton and corn plantation that encompassed 2,400 acres. This turn-of-the-century country estate is now situated on 19 beautiful acres and is one of the finest Antebellum plantation houses ever built in the region. Old Capitol Museum (circa 1845) Located on South Monroe Street in Downtown, 850-487-1902, In its present location since 1845, this American Renaissance style mansion has been beautifully restored to its 1902 appearance and features red candy-striped awnings and a stained glass dome. The building houses the House and Senate Chambers, the Supreme Court, and the Governor's office and special exhibits, artifacts, and reproductions are located throughout the building which interpret the state's political history, constitutions, and the history of the building. more...

Union Bank Museum (circa 1841) Located at Apalachee Parkway at Gadsden Street, 850-561-2603, The oldest surviving bank building in Florida, this bank, at various times, has housed a Freedman's Bank, a shoe factory, a bakery, a beauty shop, and a church. This historic bank now serves as an extension of the Florida A&M University Black Archives, Research Center, and Museum and contains artifacts and documents reflecting black history and culture.

Hernando de Soto State Archaeological Site (circa 1539) 1022 De Soto Park Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32301, 850-922-6007, This is the historic site of the encampment of Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto and it is the only documented site of de Soto's venture. Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park 7502 Natural Bridge Road, Tallahassee, FL 32305, Six Miles East of Woodville, off State Road 363, 850-922-6007, Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park is "the site of the second largest Civil War battle in Florida and where the St. Marks River drops into a sinkhole and flows underground for one-quarter of a mile before reemerging." Each March, the public is invited to view reenactments, visit authentic Civil War campsites, talk with historians about conditions and events before and after the battle, and enjoy demonstrations of weapons and uniforms and a ceremony honoring the soldiers.  more...
