Cajun Prairie Restoration Project Martin Luther King Jr Drive and Magnolia, Eunice, LA 70535, Driving across the Cajun Prairie it is easy to forget that there was ever anything on this flat, moist table of earth but rice and soybean fields. Now on a 10-acre site botanists from LSUE have begun to recreate a chunk of "natural" Prairie habitat. Seeds were gathered from scattered strips of virgin Prairie and planted on tilled ground at this site.  |

Shrine of Charlene Richard Route 1105, Eunice, LA 70535, Located Behind St. Edward Church , Charlene Richard was known as a Cajun saint. Thousands of South Louisiana Catholics make a pilgrimage each year to the grave of this girl who died of leukemia at age twelve in 1959. Her tomb is festooned with flowers, mementos and notes to Charlene Richard imploring her intercession in all manner of worldly problems. |
