Korner's Folly (circa 1880)

Located in Kernersville, just ten miles east of Winston-Salem, this building is touted the "strangest house in the world." This architectural oddity was built by Jule Korner and rises to 100 feet in height, creating a striking structure that includes 22 rooms on three floors and seven levels with ceilings ranging from six to 25 feet, and no two doors or windows in a room that are alike. The house includes a theatre that was used by the Korner children, 20 unique fireplaces of differing designs, decorative murals by German master Caesar Milch, and elaborate tile and woodwork. more... map

This 175 acre historic park is dedicated to presenting the history of the religious sect that settled this village in 1753.
