Charlotte Genesee Lighthouse

This second-oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes was built in 1822, and sits perched on a looming bluff that overlooks the mouth of the Genesee River. The Centre at High Falls includes an array of exhibits that explore and elucidate a variety of themes and matter of interest, including push button exhibits that will acquaint one with the legends of Rochester, a simulated taxi ride that explores the reaches of the city, a simulated race way, and 3-D exhibits that explore geology, technology, culture, and creativity. There is also an old operational forge on the grounds where one can learn about the process of smelting and metal work. In addition to the spectacular High Falls that plummet over a ninety-five-foot cliff in the Genesee River, the Genesee River Gorge is at night set ablaze with the spectacular artificial flashes and luminescence of a thirty minute laser light show and a fireworks display.
